Can you withstand the fear?

Assuming that the threats to the London airplanes are creditable (doubtful); the announcement is a shrewd political move by the Bush administration. It is a fact that this ‘plot', was discovered a week ago, numerous news sources have recounted this timetable (see BBC and Democracy Now). This gave the Bush Administration time to install talking points and regale in fear mongering. This is evident by the appearance of VP Cheney. Cheney is a pure authoritarian follower (see John Dean’s Conservatives without Conscience) peddling fear and undermining debate. His public conferences are relegated to RNC talking points and misrepresenting facts. However, our corporate news service lacks the will power or fortitude to objectively look him or any situation. Instead the rush to be first with a headline trumps the first to be accurate. News services as well as pundits shallow hole governmental information. It is treated as gospel. Questioning has gone by the way side. Logical constructs and viable proof are not needed. Only the smell of fear with a touch of Islam-o-fascism is enough for the media to genuflect. People need to question all news (including the above sited news organizations). First one must ask is this true? If it is true then where is the proof? Under British law those arrested for terrorism have 28 days to be charged. I doubt the public will have the fortitude to keep with this story for that long. And I know the media will not have follow-up stories. This is now the world we live in, a constant influx of news stories about unproved ‘facts’ and then these ‘facts’ before proven become apart of the political and social landscape. It is critical in this time of fact manipulation and deceit that everyone becomes a bit more skeptical. Beware for it will be even harder to question these ‘facts’ in the shadow of terrorism because many will brand you anti-American and terrorist loving. Neither is true but those are facts and facts are not truly what this 'war' is about now is it.
